Blair County Prison Board

The Blair County Prison Board operates under the provisions of Title 61 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, which governs county correctional institutions. In Pennsylvania's third, fourth, and fifth class counties, the Prison Board is responsible for the oversight, management, and operation of the county correctional institution. 

The Blair County Prison Board is composed of the following members: 

The President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, or a judge designated by the President Judge
The District Attorney 
The Sheriff 
The Controller 
The County Commissioners

The Prison Board, together with the officers it appoints, is responsible for providing for the safekeeping, discipline, and employment of inmates, as well as the overall government and management of the Blair County Prison. The Board works to ensure the correctional institution is operated safely, securely, and in accordance with Pennsylvania law while supporting the effective administration of the county's correctional system.
