Dog License Information

Attention City of Altoona Residents

The City of Altoona does their own licensing. If you live in the city itself and not in a township or borough, you must get your dog license through the Finance Department in City Hall located in downtown Altoona. The Treasurer's Office cannot issue licenses to residents of the city. This includes licenses ordered online from the link below. DO NOT USE that link if you are a resident of the City of Altoona.

In the Commonwealth of Pa dogs 3 months or older must be licensed. This can be done with either a Yearly or Lifetime Dog License.

Yearly License - $8.80 if 65 or over or disabled, $10.80 if not.

Lifetime License - $36.80 if 65 or over or disabled, $52.80 if not. Requires that the dog be microchipped, and we need both a Lifetime Dog License Application and a Permanent Identification Verification Form (top of the form can be filled out by the owner, the bottom portion must be filled out by the veterinarian implanting the microchip). Lifetime licenses cannot be ordered online.

To obtain an annual license, you can:

  • Come into our office and fill out an application (no other information is needed)
  • Print, complete, and sign the Annual Dog Application and mail it in along with payment.
  • Order online at padoglicense.com. Then we will mail out your tag as soon as possible. There is an additional fee of $2.00 to use this service.
